Wendy Acosta is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. A graduate of the University of Central Venezuela’s Medical School, “Luis Razetti”, in Caracas, Venezuela, Wendy received her Medical Doctor (MD) degree in 1996—living her dream of becoming a doctor since age 8. She further holds her Pediatrician degree, Physician Surgeon degree and is also a Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG).
A native of Venezuela, Wendy relocated to the United States in 2004 to pursue her degree in nursing. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from Florida International University in Miami, Florida, and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Since residing in the U.S., Wendy has had the opportunity to work with an array of clientele in multiple areas to include family medicine, women’s health, Veteran Affairs (VA) and now geriatrics. In fact, during her time at the VA in Miami, Florida, Wendy researched and investigated one of two anti-virals that now cures Hepatitis-C; and is beyond excited when she learns of success stories.
Wendy’s passion for geriatrics stems from her work with the Veteran population. “Geriatrics is a way of providing care to a population that needs a lot of attention. I want that, and it has been amazing!”
In her free time, you can find Wendy traveling with her daughter and dancing. She has performed ballet the majority of her life, and is also a super fan of Zumba. Wendy also speaks English and Spanish, and is fluently conversational in French.
