Who is MetroHealth?

MetroHealth, Inc. is a primary care medical practice for seniors who are insured through Medicare. We have offices in Downtown Orlando, East Orlando, and MetroWest. Our primary care doctors, physician assistants, and other health professionals are dedicated to providing exceptional medical care and value-added services to our clients.

What is coordinated care?

As we age into our senior years, medical issues can become increasingly intertwined and complicated. It is common for seniors to require medical care from a number of specialists. As a primary care practice devoted specifically to geriatrics, MetroHealth coordinates directly with your specialists to ensure that you receive the best and most comprehensive care possible.

Many insurance plans require a referral from your primary care physician for specialist visits. Your MetroHealth physician can walk you through the referral process. After you have visited a specialist, we will review their findings with you and help you make critical decisions about your care.

How do I become a MetroHealth patient?

To become a MetroHealth patient, simply call us or stop by one of our three convenient Orlando locations to speak with one of our friendly staff members. We will be happy to explain our practice to you and help establish you as a client.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Please call your local MetroHealth office to schedule an appointment. By scheduling your appointment well in advance, you will have a better selection of available dates and times. We try to accommodate for same-day appointments if there is an urgent need. However, we ask that you only request a same-day appointment if you truly need to see a doctor right away.

When should I schedule my first visit with MetroHealth?

As primary care providers, we recommend that you visit us at your earliest convenience so that we can learn about you while you are feeling at your best. This allows us to establish a baseline understanding of your medical history without having to treat an immediate medical need.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

We want to maximize the quality time that you spend with our care providers during your visit. You can help us make your first appointment as efficient as possible by bringing the following information and items with you:

  • Your current insurance card and a valid photo ID
  • All of your current your medication bottles and packaging, including non-prescription medicines
  • A summary of your health status
  • Any questions you may have for us

What if I have visited the hospital?

As coordinated care providers, it is important that we are made aware of any significant changes to your health as soon as possible. Please contact us immediately if you have been admitted to a hospital (or ask your hospital care provider to contact us).

What should I do if I become sick during evenings or weekends?

If you feel that you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 911 immediately and seek care from the nearest emergency room. MetroHealth is not an emergency medical facility.

For non-emergency medical needs after 5 p.m. or on weekends or holidays, please call your local MetroHealth office phone number. Our 24-hour answering service will relay your message to the doctor on call, and they will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

Who should I call if I have questions about my billing?

Contact your local MetroHealth office and ask to speak with a medical billing speciaIist. They will be happy to assist you with any billing-related questions that you may have.

Why do you need to see my insurance card?

Your insurance card contains information that we need in order to determine how your bill will be handled. We review your insurance card on each visit in order to stay up to date with any changes to your insurance plan and to accurately handle billing activities.

Will my insurance pay for my whole visit?

It is important for you to be well informed about what your insurance policy does and does not cover before you schedule an appointment with us. Your policy will outline the types of medical services and prescription medications that are covered, as well as any deductibles and co-payments that you are directly responsible for.

What is your co-payment policy?

Most insurance plans require the beneficiary patient to submit a co-payment directly to the care provider each time a medical service is administered. We require that your co-pay be paid at the time of your appointment. We do not offer deferred payment terms for co-pays.
